1.12″ Mono OLED Breakout (I2C)
This bright 1.12″ Mono OLED breakout is a tiny display compatible with Raspberry Pi and Arduino projects. Thanks to its 128×128 pixels and monochrome white/black display, it is perfect for readouts, graphing and, also, for displaying basic icons.
With great contrast, extremely bright, readable and really small, OLEDs present the further advantage of neatly fitting into projects where lack of space might be a problem.
Like other Pimoroni breakouts, once you have soldered the included right-angle female header on the breakout, you can pop it directly onto your Raspberry Pi’s pins. In this product a trace is included in order to be cut to change the I2C address from 0x3C to 0x3D, in case you prefer to use two I2C OLED at the same time!
1.12″ Mono OLED breakout features are:
- 1.12″ white OLED display (128×128 pixels)
- Uses the SH1107 DRIVER CHIP
- 20x20mm active area
- I2C interface (address 0x3C/0x3D (cut trace))
- It is 3.3V or 5V compatible
- Reverse polarity protection
- Compatible with Arduino and all models of Raspberry Pi
- Python library
1.12″ Mono OLED breakout set includes:
- 1.12″ OLED display breakout
- 1×5 male header
- 1×5 female right-angle header
This breakout board is designed so that you can solder the right-angle female header on it and pop the breakout straight onto the Raspberry Pi’s GPIO header pins 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, that are the bottom left 5 pins.
Software
In the Luma Python library you can find useful suggestion for driving this OLED display. In this other link, you find Luma library’s full documentation.
To get up and running you need to:
- Install the latest library directly from GitHub:
sudo pip install git+git://github.com/rm-hull/luma.oled.git#egg=luma.oled - Grab the examples repository:
git clone https://github.com/rm-hull/luma.examples - Then run an example like so:
python3 maze.py --display sh1106 --height 128 --rotate 2 --interface i2c
This software DOES NOT support Raspbian Wheezy.
Note
The 1.12″ Mono OLED breakout is compatible with the Breakout Garden (I2C).
If you prefer the same product but with an SPI interface, you can find it at: 1.12″ Mono OLED Breakout (SPI).
