Drum HAT: mini percussion instrument

If you are a Raspberry Pi lover who also loves making music, well this mini percussion instrument is the perfect product for you! The Drum HAT features a capacitive touch sensor and also 8 finger-sized pads to produce various percussion instrument sounds. It connects to the Raspberry Pi and is extremely easy to use.

This HAT can be used to produce music in Python, control drum machine hardware, and use drum synthesizer software on your Raspberry Pi. You can also develop advanced projects that are controlled with this HAT.

The Drum HAT is compatible with all 40-pins Raspberry Pi boards (RPI 4, 3, 2, B+, B, A+, and Zero).

The 8 capacitive touch pads can each be controlled through their own Python functions and used to create sounds — from basic-level projects to truly advanced ones, such as a Rube Goldberg–style project.

The 8 LEDs are located on the back of the Drum HAT, and the light channels are designed so cleverly that each pad can be illuminated with a simple touch without any obstruction from the LEDs, creating a pleasing lighting effect.

Drum HAT is the ideal match to Piano HAT, as they work perfectly along and can be used together on the same Raspberry Pi board. You only need some wiring ideas or the support of one or two Mini Black HAT Hack3r.

It can be used with several different drum sequencers, either hardware or software, play .wav samples with PyGame, or you can design original touch-controlled projects.

You can take full control of your synth gear hardware by using Python. Connecting the Drum HAT via USB on a MIDI adapter you can output regular MIDI commands. Check out the Drum HAT Python library, with examples and documentation.
