Fully assembled pHAT Stack
Thanks to this fully assembled pHAT Stack you can add a large number of peripherals on your Raspberry Pi. This product is a must for your experiments as you can mix and match 5 pHATs or 3 HAT increasing the functionality of your Raspberry Pi.
You can use the pHAT Stack either for specific setups and for original projects. Otherwise it can be just a skillful way to contemporarily use HATs or pHATs all at once.
The pHAT Stack can be considered the Mini Black HAT Hack3r‘s big brother.
The pHAT Stack contains 6 sets of 2×20 pin headers: use one to connect the pHAT Stack to your Raspberry Pi with the ribbon cable included, use the other 5 to mix HATs and/or pHATs. To hold the pHAT Stack steady, rubber feet are included in this set. These rubber feet prevent also any scratching of your desk. The kit includes also metal standoffs in order to help you mount and position your HATs and pHATs firmly and steadily.
Note that it is important to be sure that, between the boards you are using together, there are no pin clashes. You can check which pins uses each HATs, pHATs and Add-ons pinout list. Otherwise you can check online this great pHAT Stack configurator.
The pHAT Stack features are:
- Five sets of 2×20 pin headers (plus one to connect to your Raspberry Pi)
- HAT and pHAT mounting holes (M2.5) and labels
- Handy pinout, including BCM numbers and descriptive labels
The pHAT Stack set includes:
- pHAT Stack PCB
- 6 x pre-soldered 2×20 male GPIO pins
- 5 x pairs of black brass standoffs
- 4 x Rubber non-slip feet
- 40-way black GPIO ribbon cable
If there are no clashes between the pins used by HATs and those used by pHATs, you may get pretty excited combining different boards together. Boards such as Unicorn HAT HD, Scroll pHAT HD and Four Letter pHAT are perfect to display data in dashboard-type setups while boards such as Touch pHAT, Drum HAT and Piano HAT allow you to add input to your projects. Below are some suggested setups.

Suggested setups for the pHAT Stack:
Idea 1: Beat Box
Build a beat box with Speaker pHAT, Drum HAT and Piano HAT. As the Drum HAT and the Piano HAT use different I2C addresses, they can easily work alongside each other. With the Speaker pHAT you can give a built-in speaker to your beat box.
Idea 2: Alarm Clock / Radio Alarm Clock
With a Speaker pHAT, Touch pHAT or Four Letter pHAT you can make an alarm clock, or even better, a radio alarm clock. Make the Speaker pHAT beep for the alarm. Use the Touch pHAT if you want to snooze or cancel the alarm. Read the time on the Four Letter pHAT.
Idea 3: Weather Station
By using a Scroll pHAT HD, Enviro pHAT and Four Letter pHAT you can create a built-in dashboard weather station. The current temperature will be displayed on the Four Letter pHAT. On Scroll pHAT HD you can read a graph of recent temperature.
Notes:
- Soldering is not required for the Fully assembled pHAT Stack.
- When you use HATs, pay attention not to short any pin on any component located on the underside of the HATs. Some insulating tape on the underside of the board can work as a protection.
