The ideal case for the Raspberry Pi 1 B+, 2 and 3 (40-pin) is this one from Adafruit, with a slightly smoked base and a transparent top.

This practical and attractive case for the Raspberry Pi 1 B+ / Pi 2 / Pi 3 was designed by Mike Doell. The case is made from durable, high-gloss polycarbonate. Not only does it look great, but it’s also sturdy enough to be tossed into your toolbox or even your rucksack. This case features slim cable grommets, a bevelled slot for the MicroSD card (which is easily removable) and handy slots for both the RPI camera module and a future display. What’s more, it provides ample space to extend the GPIO cable from the Raspberry Pi.

The Raspberry Pi board slots easily into the base of the case, while the lid closes securely over it. If you want to maximise your RPI’s potential, use this case without the lid. This way, you can easily add other HATs to your Raspberry Pi 1 B+ board.

This case is only compatible with the Raspberry Pi Model 1 B+ / Pi 2 / Pi 3 boards, and is not compatible with the Raspberry Pi Model A or B. Although it also works with the Model A+, there will be a little spare space; however, when feeding a cable or USB connector through the front openings, this may cause some issues if the cables are bulky.
