Micro SD SPI or SDIO Card Breakout
Micro SD cards are ideal for use with microcontrollers to store and retrieve fonts, GIFs, images, audio files, sensor logs, or other types of data. This is why SD cards come in different sizes, are inexpensive, long-lasting, and can be found in any store. They can also be easily inserted into any computer using a standard SD card reader.
This product is not like a typical card adapter, as it is designed for SPI use and also supports SDIO hardware.
SDIO, which stands for Secure Digital Input Output, is a multi-pin data protocol. This means you can use up to 4 data pins simultaneously. Compared to SPI, SDIO can offer faster timing. However, keep in mind that speed may vary depending on the microcontroller you connect this breakout to.
To use this Micro SD SPI/SDIO breakout, make sure your microcontroller supports both SDIO and the required SDIO firmware/library. Since SDIO is usually available on higher-end chips, it may require the use of specific pins. This breakout can also be used in SPI mode. Note that this board does not include level shifting, so it cannot be used with 5V microcontrollers.
This Micro SD SPI/SDIO breakout must be used only with 3V power and 3V logic microcontrollers.
SDIO pins are bidirectional and, since there are currently no 5V microcontrollers with SDIO, the board does not include level shifting or power regulation.
Package contents 1x Micro SD SPI/SDIO breakout board and 1x header for breadboard use. Micro SD card not included. You can purchase it separately: Micro SD board.
