Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Board

The Raspberry Pi 3 Model B is a single-board computer with a 64-bit quad-core CPU, wireless LAN, and Bluetooth connectivity, making it ideal for connected projects. It is the first board of the Raspberry Pi 3 range, released after the Pi 2 B and before the Pi 3 B+.

With this model, no external antenna is required, as the chip antenna is soldered directly on the board. Despite its small size, it reliably receives wireless LAN and Bluetooth signals, even through walls.

Wireless LAN, Bluetooth, and Bluetooth Classic are provided by the onboard Broadcom BCM43438 chip.

The Broadcom BCM2837 SoC (system‐on‐chip) designed specifically for the RPi 3 B, includes:

• ARM Cortex-A53 quad-core processor at 1.2GHz with 32kB L1 & 512kB L2 cache,
• VideoCore IV GPU,
• 1GB LPDDR2 RAM.

Like the Raspberry Pi B+ and A+ models, the Pi 3 B features a 40-pin GPIO header, compatible with existing GPIO hardware. The only change is that the OS remaps the UART pin.

As with the Pi 2, the Pi 3 B uses the SMSC LAN9514 chip, providing 10/100 Ethernet and four USB ports via a single USB channel, acting as both hub and USB-to-Ethernet adapter.
