Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W
The Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W is the latest board in the Raspberry Pi Zero family and retains the same form factor, connectors, and mounting holes as the Zero W. The Zero 2 W features a quad-core processor capable of delivering a 40% increase in single-thread performance and up to 5ร higher multi-threaded performance compared to the previous single-core Raspberry Pi Zero W!
More specifically, the performance improvement of the Pi Zero 2 W comes from its quad-core 64-bit Arm Cortex-A53 processor running at 1GHz. At its core, it uses a Raspberry Pi RP3A0 System-in-Package (SiP), integrating a Broadcom BCM2710A1 die with 512MB of LPDDR2 SDRAM. This new architecture provides a significant performance boost. In addition, the SiP design greatly improves thermal efficiency by keeping DRAM and CPU within a single package. The previous Package-on-Package (PoP) design, where RAM and processor were separate thermally, has been replaced. This thermal advantage allows for theoretical overclocking up to 1.2GHz (with appropriate cooling).
The Zero 2 W continues to offer 2.4GHz 802.11 b/g/n wireless LAN and Bluetooth (now 4.2), along with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) support and modular compliance certification. It is powered via a micro-USB port and requires a 5V 2.5A power supply, just like previous generations.
The Raspberry Pi Zero 2 is equipped with a MicroSD card slot for the Raspberry Pi OS, a CSI-2 camera connector, a USB On-The-Go (OTG) port, and an unpopulated footprint for a 40-pin GPIO header compatible with HATs. Video output is provided via a mini HDMI port; composite video output is available via test pads on the board if needed.
