Enviro+ pHAT for Raspberry Pi
The Enviro+ pHAT for Raspberry Pi gives you the power to monitor your entire environment! It includes a range of fantastic environmental sensors and a small, colourful LCD to display your data. A whole universe of new possibilities opens up for you!
The Enviro+ pHAT is designed for environmental monitoring, allowing you to measure temperature, humidity, pressure, light, and noise levels.
With this pHAT you can also assess air quality, including pollutant gases and particulate matter, when paired with a particulate matter sensor (sold separately, click on: particulate matter sensor). With this sensor, you can even monitor outdoor air quality (more information below). Without the particulate matter sensor, the Enviro+ board can still be used for indoor environmental monitoring.
Compared to extremely expensive environmental monitoring stations, Enviro+ offers a highly affordable alternative. It is compact, reliable, and can contribute to air quality monitoring projects such as Luftdaten.

Urban air quality monitoring
This board was developed in collaboration between Dr Nate Adams of the University of Sheffield and Pimoroni, with the aim of allowing real-time transmission of air quality data from your local area to open-data projects such as Luftdaten.
The decline in air quality is an alarming reality, and understanding it is of primary importance. Devices like Enviro+ allow us to track changes in air quality over time and across different urban areas by generating highly detailed datasets. The more devices contribute data, the more reliable and comprehensive the results become.
Particulate matter consists of extremely small particles (PM). Particulates contribute to air pollution: a mingle of sizes and types of dust, spores, pollen, organic particles, smoke particles, metal ions and others. Particulate sensors such as the PMS5003 (compatible with Enviro+) can measure both particle size and concentration.
The BME280 sensor on the Enviro+ board is important for interpreting particulate data, as readings are influenced by temperature, humidity, and air pressure.
Indoor monitoring
In addition to outdoor air quality monitoring, Enviro+ is also highly effective for indoor use. Temperature, humidity, light, and noise readings are essential for monitoring conditions inside your home. By combining sensor data with the LCD display and proximity sensor for interaction, you get a powerful and reliable monitoring device.
It can also be integrated with smart IoT systems such as Alexa to ask questions about temperature or humidity. You can even create automation rules using IFTTT, for example turning on Philips Hue lights when ambient light falls below a set threshold. And there is much more you can do!
Software
The Python library allows you to control all components of the Enviro+ board. You will find examples for each sensor, as well as a multi-function demo that visually displays all sensor data. There is also an example showing how to send data to Luftdaten (a particulate matter sensor is required for this). In this case, particulate matter sensor is required for it.
