BrainCraft HAT: Machine Learning per Pi 4

BrainCraft HAT is based on the idea that you can “craft brains” for Machine Learning on the EDGE, using microcontrollers and microcomputers.

This product features:

• 1 x 1.54″ IPS TFT display with a resolution of 240×240 for inference output, displaying text or video
• Slots for the camera connector cable for imaging projects
• 1 x 5-way joystick
• 1 x button for UI input
• 1 x left microphone and 1 x right microphone (ideal for creating your own smart home assistants)
• 1 x stereo headphone output (for audio playback via a stereo system, headphones or powered speakers)
• 1 x 1W stereo speaker output (e.g. for audio playback, text-to-speech, alarms or creating a voice assistant)
• 3 x DotStar RGB LEDs (for colourful visual feedback)
• 2 x 3-pin STEMMA connectors on the PWM pins (so you can drive NeoPixels or servos, or connect buttons or relays)
• 1 x plug-and-play I2C port Grove/STEMMA/Qwiic (for connecting other devices)
• 1 x controllable mini fan on the back of the board

All these features will allow you to design and build a wide variety of audio/video AI projects, while also enabling easy integration with sensors and robotics.

Furthermore, the inclusion of a controllable mini fan, which connects to the back of the board, will keep your Raspberry Pi cool while you focus on performing AI inference calculations. Another key feature is the On/Off switch, which completely disables the audio codec: when switched off, it is absolutely impossible for anyone to hear you.

Thanks to the STEMMA QT port, you can connect thermal imaging sensors such as the Panasonic Grid-EYE or the MLX90640. You can also use heat-sensitive cameras as people detectors, even in the dark. You can also connect an external accelerometer to detect gestures or vibrations, for example in industrial predictive maintenance and/or machinery projects.
