TRILOBOT: Basic Robotics Kit

Trilobot is an educational robot that executes commands via the Raspberry Pi. The robot’s learning platform is versatile and designed for intermediate-level Raspberry Pi users. The hardware is supported by a comprehensive Python library, featuring controller code and numerous examples developed with the assistance of a high-calibre Trilobot testing team.

Unlike other Pimoroni robots (which were made of acrylic), the Trilobot chassis is constructed from layers of resilient FR-4 printed circuit board. The motor driver hardware is already integrated into the chassis, so no HAT is required to control the motors. In fact, all layers have been marked with helpful labels to show you where all the parts should be placed. Furthermore, very bright RGB LED lighting is also built in.

Trilobot comes with a built-in camera mount (camera module not included) and an ultrasonic distance sensor (so you can prevent it from bumping into things and walls). Furthermore, there are two connectors for connecting breakouts with Qwiic or Stemma QT connectors and various broken-out headers for adding up to five Breakout Garden connectors (soldering required).

By adding a camera to the Trilobot’s dedicated mount, you’ll be able to record what the robot sees and even add artificial intelligence/machine learning to the mix.

ATTENTION: this product is the Trilobot basic kit only. To complete your robot, you will need: a Raspberry Pi, a Raspberry Pi v2 camera, a micro-SD card and a USB-C battery. These are not included with this product, but you can purchase them separately.

Trilobot is designed for use with the Raspberry Pi 4, but is also compatible with other 40-pin Raspberry Pi boards. In the latter case, you will need to replace the power cable.

  • Ultrasonic distance sensor
  • Booster header (for connecting your Raspberry Pi)
  • USB-C power cable (for connecting a power bank – not included).
  • Nuts, bolts and associated mounting hardware

Notes:
The servo header outputs 5 V and is connected to GPIO12.
