Mini push-button with momentary blue illumination
This lovely mini push-button featuring the ‘power’ symbol has a built-in LED that lights up momentarily. It’s a simple way to add a switch and a touch of blue, complete with the universal power symbol, to your project.
This switch is roughly the same size as 6 mm switches, such as this push-button switch (6 mm), and can be fitted onto a breadboard. Please note that this is a momentary switch, so it should not be confused with a latching on-off switch!
In addition to the usual four pins, there are two further pins that connect to the anode and cathode of a small LED that shines through the top. The LED is not connected to the switch in any way and does not include a resistor. You’ll therefore need to add your own ~1K resistor and control the LED using a pin on the microcontroller or any other device. The cathode of the LED is the pin closest to the middle of the ‘line’ in the power symbol.
