STS-Pi: wheeled robot kit for Raspberry Pi

With the STS-Pi, you can turn your Raspberry Pi into an absolutely fantastic reconnaissance rover. In fact, the robot’s wheeled chassis works with various motor drivers, particularly with Pimoroni’s Explorer HAT Pro or Explorer pHAT boards, for which the software can be found on GitHub (Explorer HAT on GitHub).

As this product requires no soldering and is shipped as a kit, it is perfect for assembling either on your own or with children. In fact, all you’ll need to assemble it is a small flat-head screwdriver.

Thanks to this robot, you can easily get started with robotics and learn to control motors using the Raspberry Pi. Furthermore, thanks to the camera mount fitted to the chassis, you can add a camera so that the robot can take photos whilst it’s out and about.

The STS-Pi kit includes:

• Laser-cut acrylic chassis
• Camera mount for the Official Raspberry Pi camera
• 2 high-grip independent wheels (moon-buggy wheels)
• 2 push-head motors (298:1 gear ratio)
• 0.5-inch front wheel
• Jumper cables
• 2 motor mounting brackets
• 2 battery clips (battery optional and not included in the kit)
• Nuts, bolts and other fasteners

Build your robot and programme it in Python, Scratch or any language you prefer. You can also add a USB battery and a WiFi dongle and let it roam freely!
