Essential Accessories
Raspberry Pi 5 works with a 5V 3A USB-C power supply, but for best performance it is recommended to use the official 27W USB-C PD (Power Delivery) power supply, especially when powering high-consumption peripherals such as USB drives.

Raspberry Pi 5 Features
Raspberry Pi 5 features a quad-core 64-bit Arm Cortex-A76 processor running at 2.4GHz, paired with LPDDR4 RAM up to 8GB. In this specific configuration, it comes with 4GB of RAM. In addition to a significant graphics performance improvement thanks to the 800MHz VideoCore VII GPU, Raspberry Pi 5 offers a 2–3x CPU performance increase compared to Raspberry Pi 4. These improvements are especially noticeable in desktop use, gaming, and kernel compilation for custom projects.

The Pi 5’s SD card slot supports high-speed SDR104 mode, doubling peak throughput (early tests show sequential read speeds exceeding 85 MB/s).

The Raspberry Pi Foundation designed the new RP1 “southbridge” chip, enhancing I/O capabilities by providing double USB bandwidth and two 4-lane MIPI transceivers, enabling higher resolution for cameras and displays.

Additionally, for the first time in the Raspberry Pi series, there is a user-accessible single-lane PCIe 2.0 interface that can be used to connect various types of hardware.

For display support, there are two micro-HDMI ports supporting up to 4Kp60, allowing Raspberry Pi 5 to be used with larger, high-resolution displays. It uses hardware H.265 4Kp60 decoding for 4K video playback.

If you need a micro-HDMI cable to connect your Pi 5 to a display, you can separately purchase a 1-meter white micro-HDMI to HDMI cable or a 1-meter black micro-HDMI to HDMI cable.

The new Raspberry Pi 5 chipset supports Bluetooth 5.0 and dual-band 802.11ac wireless LAN, like the previous generation, ensuring fast wireless connectivity with less interference and improved reception.
