Flexible LED Filament

Our favourite treat when tinkering with electronics is a hot bowl of noodles – and in New York, they’re often called ‘noods’! This product is a flexible LED strip – not good to eat, but great for creating lighting effects!

This type of LED strip is used in ‘Edison-style’ LED bulbs, shaped like hearts or stars, or simply coiled to create a fun or cosy lighting effect. Each LED strand consists of dozens of micro LED diodes linked together on an ultra-flexible metal backing, and coated in coloured silicone to protect them. As the LEDs are in parallel, 3 V is required to power them (Note: it is recommended to limit the current with a resistor to a maximum of 50 mA).

Each pack contains a 30 cm LED string. Add a touch of neon bling (like this NeoPixel ring) to your miniature sets, doll’s houses or other projects. These filaments have the look and feel we’ve always wanted from EL wire, and as they’re just a ‘long, thin LED’, you can easily dim them using PWM.

Simply power it with 3V by connecting both ends: the anode should be the metal end with a small hole. If it doesn’t light up straight away, try connecting it the other way round – no problem.
