RFID/NFC 13.56MHz ‘MiFare Classic’ Sticker – 1KB
Do you perhaps think this tag can only be used for stock-taking? Fortunately, this 13.56MHz RFID/NFC tag offers you countless possibilities for use; the only limit is your imagination.
This tag incorporates a small RFID chip and an antenna which, from a distance of a couple of inches, can be passively powered by the proximity reader/writer.
Almost all 13.56 MHz RFID/NFC readers can read them; the only requirement is that the readers must support ISO/IEC 14443 Type A cards and not other encryption standards, such as FeliCa.
These chips can be written to and rewritten over 100,000 times and are also capable of storing up to 1 KB of data in EEPROM memory, divided into blocks.
The PN532 NFC/RFID breakout board or the Adafruit NFC/RFID Shield for Arduino are ideal for reading or writing data to the EEPROM built into the tag. Furthermore, to distinguish one tag from another, the chip contains a permanent 4-byte ID (which cannot be changed).
MiFare Classic products use a traditional ISO/IEC 14443 Type A chipset. This chipset has not been supported by the NFC Forum since around 2014. Consequently, newer-generation mobile phones and tablets no longer use it. However, this is irrelevant unless you intend to use this tag with mobile phones or tablets.
