CSI or DSI Cable Adapter Thingy for Raspberry Pi
The Thingy adapter allows you to convert a 15-pin connector with a 1mm pitch (CSI camera) into a 22-pin connector with a 0.5mm pitch (DSI for camera/display), by adding a 15-pin FPC (flat cable) on one side or a 22-pin FPC (flat cable) on the other. It’s very simple to use; you just need to insert the two flat cables and the board does the rest for you. Remember to carefully lever the two tabs on the connectors, connect the flat cables with the contacts facing downwards, and finally push the tabs back in for a secure connection.
If you’re using this adapter to connect a Raspberry Pi Zero camera to a standard Raspberry Pi board, you can use any of these white 15-pin cables.
Note: In theory, the CSI/DSI interface is not designed for very long cables and extending them is not recommended. However, Adafruit has used 1-metre extension cables to connect the Thingy to a camera, and these have worked. Nevertheless, there is no guarantee that this adapter will work with all 1-metre cables. CSI/DSI connectors are designed for a maximum length of approximately 25 cm.
