Non-volatile I2C FRAM Breakout – 256Kbit / 32Kbyte

This product features a FRAM, or Ferroelectric RAM, which is similar to ‘Dynamic random-access memory’, except that FRAM uses a layer of ferroelectric material instead of a dielectric layer.
The ferroelectricity gives this product stable data retention (the bytes you write are non-volatile) combined with dynamic responsiveness (meaning you can write to it very quickly).

This I2C FRAM breakout board allows you to add some FRAM memory to your DIY project.

Features of the Non-volatile I2C FRAM Breakout:

• FRAM enables lower power consumption and offers faster write performance.
• It is excellent for low-power or intermittent-power data logging, or for data buffering where a fast data stream is required that can retain data even when the power is off.
• There are no pages to worry about, unlike with Flash or EEPROM.
• Each byte can be read/written 10,000,000,000,000 times, so there’s no need to worry too much about ‘wear levelling’.

This FRAM chip has 256 Kbit (32 KByte) of memory, interfaces via I2C and can operate at I2C speeds of up to 1 MHz. Each byte can be read and written instantly (like SRAM), but at room temperature it will retain its data for 95 years.

This product features the largest I2C chip and is also 5V-compliant. You can use this chip with either a 3V or 5V power supply and logic. The breakout board can be used on a breadboard.

This product consists of an I2C non-volatile FRAM breakout board and includes a 0.1″ male header if you wish to solder it in.
