Ultimate GPS HAT for Raspberry Pi

Are you running late and can’t find your precious Raspberry Pi? If it had this GPS HAT, you’d find it in the blink of an eye!

With Adafruit’s Ultimate GPS HAT, you can get the exact time and location for your Raspberry Pi, whatever 40-pin model you have.

GPS module features:

• Sensitivity -165 dBm, 10 Hz updates, 99 search channels
• GPS + GLONASS support (PA1616D uses the MT3333 IC)
• Integrated real-time clock (RTC) powered by a CR1220 backup battery (not included) with a 7-year lifespan.
• PPS output with fix, connected by default to pin #4
• The internal patch antenna works very well outdoors; it also features a u.FL connector for use with an external active antenna
• The status LED flashes to indicate when the GPS has determined the current coordinates

Adafruit has based this HAT on the Ultimate GPS, adding support for button cells for the RTC, extra Raspberry Pi pins and a large prototyping area to this new product.

Please note: this HAT uses the Raspberry Pi’s hardware UART to send and receive data to and from the GPS module. Therefore, you will not be able to use this HAT if you also need to use the serial RX/TX pins.

This product features the new version of the Ultimate GPS HAT (released in July 2021), which uses the new PA1616D GPS module (slightly taller at 4 mm) but offers the same functionality as the previous version. The commands for querying the antenna have changed slightly, so if you wish to use projects found online, you may need to adapt them to the new module.

The Ultimate GPS HAT is supplied as a fully assembled GPS + PCB with a 2×20 header. A small amount of soldering is required to connect the 2×20 GPIO header to the HAT. If you wish to add cables to the pins or another add-on on top of the HAT, you may need a female header with longer pins, which you can purchase separately (click on 11mm-pin female header).

Note: The CR1220 battery, Raspberry Pi, cables and external antenna are not included.
