Inky pHAT (ePaper/eInk/EPD) Black/White
You can have an electronic paper display (ePaper / eInk / EPD) for your Raspberry Pi that is low-energy and high-falutin, in black/white.
The Inky pHAT’s awesome 212×104 pixel display is perfectly readable in the sunlight as it is just like paper. It is excellent for displaying simple graphics and crisply-rendered text. On it you may check graphing data from remote sensors, CPU load, temperature or stock prices. Also this product could be a really nice clock, display the weather, the news headlines, tweets, sport scores and so much more.
Note that in order to allow the Python library to support colour combinations of the display you will have to put inkyphat.set_colour(“black”) at the top of your code, right below the import inkyphat. Substitute “red” with “yellow” or “black” based on the colour of your Inky pHAT.
Inky pHAT Features
- 2.13″ EPD display (212×104 pixels)
- Colour white/black
- Inky pHAT pinout
- Compatible with Raspberry Pi 40-pins (RPI 4, 3B+, 3, 2, B+, A+, Zero and Zero W boards)
- Python library
- Comes fully assembled
Multi-colour EPD displays, like those on Inky pHAT, use electrophoresis to move coloured particles up and down on the display. The coloured particles reflect light, unlike most display types, so that they are visible even under bright lights. About 15 seconds are necessary to refresh the display, with a typical 8mA current draw during refreshes. To refresh black/white displays is fastest, as it only will take one ore two seconds.
Everything comes fully-assembled, and no soldering is necessary. The display is firmly stuck down to the Inky pHAT PCB and it is connected via a ribbon cable. You only have to put the Inky pHAT on your Raspberry Pi board, run the installer and everything is ready.
The Inky pHAT works with any 40-pin version of the Raspberry Pi boards (RPI 4, 3, 2, B+, B, A+, and Zero).
Software
The Python library makes the displaying of text and images on Inky pHAT very easy, such as the clock or weather display examples. To make installation less complicated, there is a one-line installer also for the Python Library.
Raspbian Wheezy is not supported by the Python library.
